About Summit Service Dogs
Summit Service Dogs is an Alberta Government approved service dog organization. We provide professional service dog training in Alberta and Saskatchewan through our owner-trained service dog program, with programs available in Alberta as well as Regina and Saskatoon. Our fully trained service dogs and facility dogs are available to individuals and organizations across Canada.
Our goal is simple: to create successful partnerships between people and dogs that increase independence, confidence, safety, and quality of life.
We provide fully trained service dogs to individuals across Canada, with dogs trained to support people with autism, medical response needs, mobility-related disabilities, and psychiatric disabilities.
We also provide owner-trained service dog programs in Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton, Medicine Hat, Regina, and Saskatoon supporting handlers who are training their own dogs to become successful service dog teams.
As an organization approved by the Government of Alberta, Summit trains service dogs in accordance with the Alberta Training Standard. Our approach emphasizes humane, positive-reinforcement training, thoughtful dog selection, individualized training, and ongoing support for the people and dogs who become part of Summit.

We believe a successful service dog partnership is about more than training a dog to perform tasks. It is about understanding the individual, developing the dog, educating the handler, and creating a partnership capable of succeeding together in everyday life. Our goal is to provide the training, education, and ongoing support needed to create confident and successful service dog teams.

Qualified & Experienced Trainers
Our team includes Certified Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA) and graduates of the Service Dog & Canine Studies Management program. Our trainers bring education, hands-on experience, and a commitment to continued professional development to every team we support.
Positive Reinforcement Training
Summit uses positive-reinforcement training and does not use aversive training techniques or equipment. We want our service dogs to become confident, engaged learners who enjoy working with their handlers.
Individualized Service Dog Partnerships
There is no one-size-fits-all service dog. We consider each person’s individual needs as well as each dog’s temperament, strengths, health, and abilities when developing successful partnerships

Stacey Wagner, RN, CPDT-KA
Owner of Summit Service Dogs
Growing up, Stacey has always had a love for animals & dogs in particular. She has welcomed numerous dogs of various breeds into their home through the years. Stacey is a skilled professional as a Registered Nurse with 15 years of nursing experience. She has a thorough understanding of medical conditions & the benefit, value & impact that a service dog can have on each person. Stacey has exposed dogs to medical environments through her workplace & by volunteering. Stacey’s nursing background & love for dogs has also led her to become a certified Canine First Aid Instructor & most recently CPDT-KA certified. Stacey, along with her family have happily welcomed & raised multiple service dogs in their home.
Peyton Sanders, CPDT-KA
Advanced Trainer
Peyton’s journey in the canine industry began in 2017 as a volunteer at the Cochrane Humane Society where she fostered & cared for dogs awaiting adoption. This invaluable experience established her love & commitment to animal welfare & inspired her to pursue a professional career working with dogs. Peyton gained additional experience working at a Calgary dog daycare & boarding facility where she gained confidence & experience in dog handling skills. This experience provided her with a deep understanding of canine behavior & the ability to adapt her approach to individual dogs needs. In 2024, Peyton graduated from the Medicine Hat Service Dog & Canine Studies Management program & also obtained her CPDT-KA certification. Peyton’s comprehensive education & experience makes her a skilled & compassionate trainer dedicated to improving the lives of dogs & their owners.
Joanne Loberg, CPDT-KA
Regina Trainer
Joanne has owned & fostered dogs her entire life & has always had a passion for dogs & helping others. After graduating high school, she received a diploma as a Vet Tech & worked for eight years in small animal medicine. Joanne is also an Educational Assistant in an elementary school. Joanne has developed a passion for assisting children with disabilities & finding ways to improve their experiences. In 2022, Joanne moved to Medicine Hat to pursue her lifelong dream of training service dogs by attending the Service Dog & Canine Studies Management program at the Medicine Hat College. This career combines Joanne’s love of dogs, training & helping others to meet their full potential. Joanne has also most recently also obtained her CPDT-KA certification.
Hailey Paul, CPDT-KA
Edmonton Trainer
Hailey grew up on a farm surrounded by animals & has had dogs her entire life. Hailey’s journey into the service dog industry began in 2019 when her family owner-trained a service dog for her sister. That life-changing experience sparked her passion for the field & the powerful impact service dogs can have on people’s lives. Since then, Hailey has worked with another service dog organization, gaining hands-on experience with task training, public access skills, & working closely with clients & their dogs. She later worked as a trainer with a business focused on pet & sport dogs, where she deepened her understanding of canine learning & behavior. In 2025, Hailey graduated from the Service Dog & Canine Management Diploma Program at Medicine Hat College, & has obtained her CPDT-KA certification. Hailey is passionate about empowering handlers through partnership of a well-trained service dog & loves seeing how these dogs can bring greater independence & a better quality of life to the people they help.
